💌 IL # 16: Dopamine Fasting

On a slump? I hope the articles inside will help.

When we were still in B.C. (Before Coronavirus), my family of 5 used to drive around the metro for meetings and lessons. But now that everything happens remotely, it's now a different type of hectic.

Sometimes this happens all at the same time *inhale* In one room, listening in on a meeting while assisting my youngest with her online therapy while my other children are doing homeschool online while my husband is working with clients. *exhale*

I'm sure that this is common for a lot of people and I'm grateful that we can live a "normal" life, but our gadgets dominate our lives. Being hyperconnected can be S-T-R-E-S-S-F-U-L.

Hyperconnectedness can also feel isolating.

So how can we gain equilibrium while being stuck at home? This week's articles made me think about how to do a digital detox when I can't completely disconnect.

How do you cope with our new "normal?"

Here are this week’s articles. All of these can be read within 20 minutes. I encourage you to read all of them especially when you’re feeling like you’re in a slump.

Finite and Infinite Games: Two Ways to Play the Game of Life | 🕰 2 minutes

Playing finite games in life was taught to us in school that I believe should be unlearned as adults.

⛵️ A Good Life Doesn’t Mean an Easy One | Alison Gopnik | 🕰 2 minutes

This is an interesting read but I found it funny how they avoid using the term “drama in our lives” because that would make the study make more sense 😅 If you can’t read the whole article, let me know!

⚡️ Do you plan using your energy levels? | Roderic Yapp | 🕰 5 minutes

The greatest insight I had lately was that I didn’t have low energy - I just use up a lot of it every single day. This is a useful starter guide on how to manage your time and energy well.

One of the things I learned from reading about the Montessori approach is to observe the child’s energy levels throughout the day so you can understand how to manage their work cycles. I think that’s also useful to do to ourselves as adults.

Dopamine Fasting 2.0 - Overcome Addiction & Restore Motivation | After Skool | 🕰 10 minutes

Have you tried dopamine fasting? Warning: ⚠️ NSFW or maybe it’s better to listen to this with your headphones on 😁

‘til next week!
